Advisory - Public Hearing Regarding Collection of a Fee from Veteran Patients at State Veterans Home

In accordance with Georgia's Administrative Procedures Act, a public hearing will be held in the Dining Room of the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home, 1101 15th Street, Augusta, Georgia 30901, at 2:00 P.M., on Friday, October 5, 2012, to obtain comments on Administrative Rule 690-1-1 regarding the collection of a fee from veteran patients at Georgia's State Veterans Homes that was authorized by the Georgia General Assembly in Act 658 in April 2012.

The purpose of Administrative Rule 690-1-1 is to implement Official Code of Georgia Annotated (O.C.G.A.) Section (§) 38-4-56 [House Bill 535, Act 658 of the 2011-2012 General Assembly] for the Veterans Service Board to provide for a reasonable fee for residency in and services provided by a facility of the Georgia State War Veterans' Home (SVH); to provide for a full or partial waiver of such fee based on economic need; and with such fee waivers established on a sliding scale based on established criteria, including, without limitation, consideration of assets, income and other resources.

Georgia's State Veterans Service Board will consider approval of the proposed administrative rule at its monthly board schedule for October 30, 2012, at 12:30 P.M., in the Georgia Department of Veterans Service Conference Room, Floyd Veterans Memorial Building - 970 East Tower, Atlanta, Georgia 30334.
