Veterans in North Georgia now have a new option when applying for the benefits earned through their service to our country.
This week, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs opened the Oakwood Community Based Outpatient Clinic at 4175 Tanners Creek Drive, Suite 111, Oakwood, GA. 30566. The new facility replaces a smaller clinic formerly located in Oakwood.
Among the features of the new, larger clinic is a Veterans Field Service Office of the Georgia Department of Veterans Service. The placement of the office means veterans can obtain medical care and apply for other benefits all under one roof.
“With the opening of the veterans service office in the Oakwood Clinic, the local area veterans will have one-stop shopping for their VA benefits,” said Harry Evans, GDVS Regional Director, North Georgia. “They can get their healthcare and file VA claims in the same facility.”
The new office will be managed by Belinda Wise, an experienced Veterans Field Service Officer. Wise can be reached at 404-321-6111, ext. 8225.
According to VA estimates, over 12,000 veterans live in Hall County. An additional 82,000 veterans live in the surrounding counties.
With the opening of the Oakwood VFSO, GDVS now has offices in 49 locations throughout the state.
