Today we honor and remember every American who ever served in any branch of the United States military.

In so doing, we acknowledge that we have always been blessed to have brave men and women step forward to serve in our armed forces, from those who fought to create our nation 240 years ago to those who fight to keep it safe today.

Today, we honor those our armed service members who put their lives on the line far from family and friends.

Today, we welcome home with glad tidings those returning from the field of battle.

Today, we make the words “thank you for your service” ring true to every veteran who hears them.

Veterans Day is just one day, but it is an important day, a day to speak up for those who stood up for their fellow Americans, to urge our lawmakers to do more to honor our obligations, to ensure that everyone who served has access to quality veterans benefits.

I don’t think there is a wrong time to say Thank You to those who served our country.

To my fellow veterans: Thank You.

And if there is anything the Georgia Department of Veterans Service can do for you, we are here for you.

Thank you. God bless you. And God bless America.
