When the Veterans Education Career Transition Resource (VECTR) Center opens Tuesday in Warner Robins it will offer area veterans a variety of services, including access to the Georgia Department of Veterans Service.

The VECTR Center, a joint initiative between the Technical College and University Systems of Georgia, aims to “successfully transition veterans and their families into Georgia’s public colleges, universities and the state’s workforce,” per its mission statement. The center is also partnering with other agencies to serve veterans, including the GDVS and the Georgia Department of Labor, to provide a “one-stop-shop” for veterans resources.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for veterans in Middle Georgia, and we are excited to be a part of it,” said GDVS Commissioner Mike Roby. “The VECTR Center aims to bring many partners together to serve veterans under one roof, and the GDVS is delighted to have been offered space under that roof.”

The GDVS accepted an offer to relocate its Warner Robins Veterans Field Service Office within the newly constructed 32,000 square-foot facility, which is located at 1001 S. Armed Forces Blvd., conveniently near Robins Air Force Base.

Commissioner Roby will join other state and local officials for grand opening festivities scheduled at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2.

The two-person Warner Robins VFSO, which is being relocated from its current space within Warner Robins City Hall, will be open from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.
