In compliance with Governor Deal's directive, GDVS offices in the areas of North Georgia expected to be affected by a winter storm will close at noon Wednesday, February 25.
Due to inclement weather, Governor Deal has ordered offices in some counties to delay opening until 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 24.
Per Governor Deal's direction, GDVS offices in Atlanta will delay opening until 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 17.
Pursuant to Governor Deal's Feb. 15 executive order, the GDVS Central Office and several Veterans Field Service Offices will be closed Monday, February 16, 2015.
Effective Jan. 1, 2015, the service schedule at the Toccoa Veterans Field Service Office will change from Tuesday/Thursday to Tuesday/Wednesday.
From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, the Georgia Department of Veterans Service will host “W.I.S.E: Women In Strength Empowered,” in the Century of Flight Hangar at the Museum of Aviation.
“There are many agencies that provide benefits and services to veterans, and this is a great opportunity for veterans to learn about all of them in one day,” said GDVS Commissioner Pete Wheeler. “Since we began this program in 1966, thousands of veterans and their families have benefited, and we are pleased to bring this history of success to Canton.”
A GDVS signature annual event since 1966, the Supermarket of Veterans Benefits is being held this year for the first time in Canton on Dec. 3.
