Statement from Commissioner Roby Regarding Incident at Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home

February 12, 2018

The Georgia Department of Veterans Service joins Terrie and me in mourning the death of Ms. Jazna Timmons.  Ms. Timmons was a valued member of the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home staff in Augusta, Georgia.

We were stunned to hear about the terrible loss of Ms. Timmons on Friday, February 9. This is a disheartening moment for the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home family and for all of us in the state veteran community.

Ms. Timmons was an employee of Augusta University working in the veterans nursing home. She was also a part of the larger Georgia Department of Veterans Service family. She shared with us all with the same interests – the care, treatment and well-being of veteran patients at “Georgia War.”

Any death of a loved one is tragic. Ms. Timmons’ death is especially heart-rending because it involved domestic violence at the work place, while she was caring for those who served in our nation’s military.

We extend our deepest sympathies to everyone who was part of her daily life.

We will keep her children, family, and friends in our thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely,

Mike Roby
Commissioner
