Suicide Prevention, Outreach, and Awareness

The Georgia Department of Veterans Service Suicide Prevention and Outreach Coordinator connects veterans with mental health resources at VA, state providers, and in their local communities. 

They also conduct trainings with staff and groups across the state to raise awareness of suicide prevention techniques and resources while building a strong network of care in Georgia.

The GDVS Suicide Prevention and Outreach team's goals include developing community capacity for suicide prevention by serving in a leadership role for the Governor’s challenge and providing a variety of training including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Lethal Means Safety 
  • Mental Health Apps (Hope Box, PTSD, etc.) 
  • Military Culture
  • Other Gatekeeper Training (QPR, ASSIST, ACE-SI)
  • Postvention 
  • Safety Planning
  • S.A.V.E.
  • Whole Health/Wellness
