The Georgia Department of Veterans Service recently opened a new Veterans Field Service Office at Gwinnett Technical College’s Lawrenceville Campus.

The office is located inside Building A in Room 604 at Gwinnett Technical College (5150 Sugarloaf Parkway, Lawrenceville, GA 30043). The office is open from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. 

Service members, veterans, and their families, caretakers, and survivors are asked to make an appointment before visiting, though walk-ins will be seen as time permits. The office can assist in filing applications for VA healthcare, compensation for service-connected disabilities, pension for wartime veterans or surviving family members, financial assistance for home health care, assisted living and nursing home care, Certificates of Eligibility for VA home loans, and Post 9/11 GI Bill education benefits. They can also assist in certifying eligibility for many benefits provided by the state (i.e., special motor vehicle license plates, honorary hunting and fishing licenses, discounts at Department of Natural Resources parks and facilities, and Certificates of Exemption from payment of certain fees and taxation for veteran small business owners).
