GDVS Operational Update: Some Offices Open by Appointment Only

GDVS offices located in buildings operated by federal or other state agencies must follow their building access policies. Veterans must call ahead and schedule an appointment before their visit to any of these offices.

New Procedures Announced for GDVS Veterans Memorial Cemeteries Wreaths Across America Week

Every December, Georgia’s two state veterans memorial cemeteries in Glennville and Milledgeville participate in Wreaths Across America and lay live balsam fir wreaths at the headstones of veterans interred on their grounds. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will not be a Wreath Ceremony on Saturday, December 19th. Wreaths will still be placed at the headstones, and the wreath-laying will be expanded over a four-day period to honor our veterans while maintaining the safety of our volunteers and cemetery staff.

America is blessed to have people willing to step forward and choose to don the uniform of our nation’s armed forces. For over 245 years, since the beginning of our country in the Revolutionary War, over 41 million Americans have served in our nation’s armed forces.

GDVS Opening New Veterans Field Service Office in Grovetown

With the opening of a new Georgia Department of Veterans Service office in Grovetown on Monday, November 16, veterans and families in Columbia County will soon be able to get help closer to home.

POW/MIA Recognition Day Message

On Friday, September 18, Americans will pause to reminisce on the service and sacrifice of the thousands of brave military service members held as prisoners of war and those who remain missing in action.
