Phillips is the co-founder and Vice-President of VETLANTA. He is the former Finance Director at the Coca-Cola Company; former board member of the USO of Georgia, and 2020 Inductee of the Georgia Military Veteran Hall of Fame.

He is also the author of Boots to Loafers, a guide used by Georgia Tech in their military transition programs.
