Meredith is the daughter of the late Oveta Surrency Edge and Homer Jackson Edge, a World War II U.S. Marine. She is a multi-generation Georgian born in Macon. Her family immigrated from France over 300 years ago and its members have served in every American conflict since 1775. 

In her professional career, Meredith was a public servant working both for the State of Georgia (Georgia Department of Corrections, and the Prosecuting Attorneys' Council of Georgia) and the U.S. Government (U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Tennessee, and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas). She retired as a Court Sessions Clerk with the Federal Judicial System. 

Her philanthropy has supported numerous non-profit organizations over the past twenty-five years including the Veterans Village of the Golden Isles, Coastal Georgia Honor Flight, Glynn Academy MCJROTC, National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force, Daughters of the American Revolution, Marine Corps League, Navy League, Friends of the Israel Defense Force, Israel's Lone Soldier Center; American Friends of Magen David, Habitat for Humanity, College of Coastal Georgia, and Temple Beth Tefilloh in Brunswick, GA. 

Meredith is a military spouse, married to General Robert Magnus, U.S. Marine Corps (Ret.). They reside on St. Simons Island.
